Welcome
My name is Carol Mon LEE and I'm running for the Honolulu District seat on the Board of Education.
Like many of you, I'm convinced that our state public school system can and should offer the best education for all of our children. There are many ways to be involved in this vitally important and complex challenge for our community. I believe I can make the best contribution by joining the Board of Education. My varied career and experience in education, law, business and community work will help bring fresh ideas and new perspectives to the Board. As we all know, new blood is important to any organization. New dialogue can lead to successful solutions.
I live in beautiful Manoa with my husband, Jerry Bentley, who teaches World History at the University of Hawai`i, where he has taught for over 30 years. My son Michael is a senior at the University of California, Irvine, where he is majoring in Computer Science. My mother Elsie lives at Arcadia Retirement Residence and is comfortable and well cared for. I retired from my position as Associate Dean of the University of Hawai`i's Willliam R. Richardson School of Law at the end of 2006 to help my aging mother and pursue other interests. If I win a seat on the BOE, I can devote all the time necessary to be an active, involved and effective board member.
After you learn more about me on this website, I hope you'll support me and our mutual goal to improve Hawaii's public education system. But to actually win a seat on the Board, I also need the vote of all of your family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues! Please share my message.
Thank you!
Carol Mon Lee
